Matt Cardle & Melanie C’s live performance of their new single ‘Loving You’ on This Morning

LovingYou_SingleFront.1200x1200-75

Loving You the new single by Matt Cardle and Melanie C should hopefully  be a top ten hit single this weekend in the U.K. It is a song that suits both music artists perfectly and is a continuation of the type of music that they both have been producing in their respective solo careers. It is a real radio friendly adult pop rock song. A huge part of the song’s success in the music charts this week is the amount of promotion that both Matt and Melanie have been doing either in person such as their recent appearance at the G.A.Y. club night in London or through their presence on social media sites where they have interacted with their many fans on line over the past few weeks.

Here is a great live performance of Loving You by Matt and Melanie when they guested on the UK television show This Morning earlier this week.

Here also is the interview with Matt and Melanie on the same show where they discuss working together, how the single came about and THAT kiss.

Loving You can be purchased on Itunes here.

Feelings (Feat Mark Le Sal) – The new single by John Gibbons & Scimon Tist

This week there have been several new songs of different genres that I have liked. One of the best dance tracks I’ve heard recently is Feelings the brand new single by the Irish dance music artists John Gibbons & Scimon Tist which features Mark Le Sal on vocals. The weekly IRMA Irish singles charts always features every dance hit single that does well internationally and Feelings in my opinion is as good as any other EDM single out at the moment and deserves to be a hit single both in Ireland and in other countries. I know from featuring their single All I Need on this website earlier this year that both John and Scimon appreciate all the support they get from music fans, radio presenters and music journalists.

The music video for Feelings features footage filmed at the Oxegen dance music festival and was part of their Power tour.

The website for Power: The tour is here and Feelings can be downloaded through ITunes here.

Obsession – Tich

Earlier this year Tich released her debut single Dumb which reached number 23 in the UK charts. Her follow up single Obsession was released this week and has so far charted at number 35 in the mid week UK singles charts. Obsession starts out fairly formulaic and then becomes a very good pop song indeed. The UK singes charts has been dominated mainly by well established pop acts for the past few months so it’s good to see brand new pop stars having hit singles. this deserves to be a top ten hit and a guest appearance on the many forthcoming music talent shows this coming Autumn and winter should see Tich becoming more famous. Glee is clearly an influence in her music video.

Obsession is out now on the All Around the World record label and can be downloaded on Itunes here.

Best I Ever Had – Gavin DeGraw

In 2004 Gavin DeGraw had a top ten Billboard Hot 100 singles chart hit with his debut single I Don’t Want To Be. It was also a top 30 here in Ireland and also in the U.K., Australia, Sweden and other counties. In 2011 he had his second U.S. Top 20 Billboard Hot 100 hit single when Not Over You reached number 18 in that chart and was also a number one on the U.S. Adult chart.
Gavin’s new single is Best I Ever Had and he had just recently released the music video for it. Music in 2013 has definitely been a mixture of genres all combined in the same song. Best I Ever Had is a wonderfully manic mixture of folk, country, pop and dance. As ever there are certain songs that I can imagine being hits here in Ireland and this is one of them. The single version sounds like a remix of an original version but nowadays every genre competes against dance for radio play especially in the U.S.

My Girl – The Other Tribe

One of the best dance tracks from 2012 was Skirts by the Bristol based band The Other Tribe. Their new single is called My Girl and it is instantly likeable. It is released in the U.K. on September 15th on Relentless Records and can be pre-ordered on Itunes here. There is a recent feature on My Girl here on Earmilk.com.The music video for My Girl is wonderfully inventive and as ever it’s great to see a dance music video with creativity and imagination.

The Other Tribe’s Soundcloud page is here, their Facebook page is here and they are on Twitter at @TheOtherTribe

‘Same Love’ – Macklemore & Ryan Lewis with special guest stars Tegan & Sara at the Osheaga Music festival 2013.

To date the song Same Love by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Mary Lambert has reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles charts. In July it reached number 2 on the Rap charts in the U.S. Here in Ireland earlier this year in February Same Love had started selling as a separate non single download. I wrote a blog post about it here and the importance of  commercially successful music artists such as Macklemore and Ryan Lewis releasing a song whose lyrics centre on LGBT equality issues and why there has to be more songs like it.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis played at the Osheaga Music Festival in Montreal last weekend. The line up also included The Cure, Mumford & Sons, New Order, The Lumineers, Disclosure, Ellie Goulding and Imagine Dragons which is like almost all of the main Irish music festivals combined on one weekend.
Tegan and Sara were also music artists performing at this year’s Osheaga music festival and they were the special guest stars when Macklemore & Ryan Lewis performed their song Same Love. Tegan and Sara are themselves great advocates of LGBT rights and the fact that Same Love was sung by them with Macklemore & Lewis is another example of how popular music can be used in a positive way as another step forward.

Summertime Sadness – Lana Del Rey Vs Cedric Gervais

Lana Del Rey’s first two singles Video Games and Born To Die both reached number 9 in the UK singles charts. since then none of the other singles that she has released reached the top ten. This weekend a remix by Cedric Gervais of her previously released single Summertime Sadness will give Lana her third top ten hit single in the UK. It is also climbing worldwide charts and is currently number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

It seems that many pop artists both female and male have to record a dance track or have one of their singles remixed to have a top 40 hit but Summertime Sadness is one that is a perfect song to be remixed. Lana is a music artist who if she was releasing songs in the 1980’s or 1990’s she would have had most of her singles go top ten but the charts today a different and often unfair place in terms of talent being recognised so it’s great to see Lana having a hit regardless of the genre her vocals feature in.

Here also is an extended version of Summertime Sadness.

Summertime Sadness is available to download on ITunes here.

Karmin’s live performance of their new single ‘Acapella’ on the On Air with Ryan Seacrest radio show.

Acapella by Karmin is one of my favourite pop songs of this summer. Here is a live performance of that song by Amy and Nick when they were guests on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show recently which was filmed on location at the Crescent Hotel in Beverley Hills. Amy introduces Acapella and how the song came to be.

Freak Dance – Denise Pearson

Since the 1980’s Denise Pearson has been the lead vocalist for her family’s band Five Star’s many hit singles. Last year Denise came to pop fans attention again when she was a contestant on The Voice UK.

While Denise continues to sing as part of Five Star with her brothers and sisters she also has recorded new solo material. Freak Dance is Denise’s newest solo single and while her vocals is wonderfully reminiscent of Five Star’s hit singles the song itself is a mix of the new and a return to a much earlier genre and decade of dance that combines different decades of music. There have been lots of great confident pop singles recently and I think that this is another example of them.

Loving You – Matt Cardle, Melanie C

Loving You is the new single by Matt Cardle and Melanie C. The song suits both of their vocals perfectly and it really deserves to be a hit when it is released on the 18th August and I assume on the 16th here in Ireland. Loving You is one of those powerhouse rock/pop songs that reminds me a bit of Byran Adams.

Great to see both Matt and Mel promoting this song through social media over the past week. Matt’s previous single Lately was a great song and Loving You is a strong follow up song.
